Normally monday evenings are a little laidback, Himself has LMC rehearsal so I usually catch up on reading, stitching, Heros, etc. This was much busier, mainly because the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] breaca came over to lend her younger, Flexible and STRONG arms to a couple of spring cleaning projects on my list. My bathtub blinded me this morning when I turned the light on :)! Thanks again [livejournal.com profile] breaca, it was nice to get a little time to visit too.

The guy from the salvage yard also came by to close the deal on the truck and a little earlier, while grabbing a few quiet minutes on the deck to enjoy the weather, I saw the hawk again. I wouldn't have noticed her on the ground behind the big juniper, her coloring blended so well, but the flurry of light colored feathers as she prepped her evening meal was a dead give away :). The really amazing part was that she stayed there for well over an hour. [livejournal.com profile] breaca drove in and came up the deck, she barely twiched a feather. Himself went out the garage door and drove out of the driveway, she was still there. The salvage guy and I stood around and talked for awhile, still there. I even walked halfway across the yard toward her and while she stopped eating to watch me (her dignity only partially impaired by the small white down feather sticking out of the side of her beak), she never budged. I kept an eye on her with the binoculars from the deck for awhile longer and am pretty confident at identifying her as a female Sharpe-shinned hawk. I hope she is nesting in the area and the construction behind us the summer won't scare her off. And maybe nexttime I will remember to grab the camera and get a picture :).
