Outdoorsy Weekend
Apr. 30th, 2007 04:17 pmI was very happy for the weather this weekend, as I ended up spending a lot of time outdoors. There is sewing I needed to do but after the gully-washer rains last week I am going to have to do some cleaning up in the basement/sweatshop and it was sooooo sunny, I really didn't want to sequestor myself down there :).
Still got a lot done; saturday was a trip up to the Lilies site to check some measurements and touchbase with several folks. Measurements were good, more electrical info, visited with some folks about setup. All good. Came home and just could not resist the temptation anymore and raked all the old winter mulch out of the herb garden. I know, we may still get a frost but I doubt if we will get anymore hard freezes and I really needed to findout what had survived. Looks like the lavendar, two of the thymes, some sage and mint are doing good. I thought the lemon balm and the oregano were gone but found some new shoots so, hopefully, they will make it. Temps are supposed to be warm with a little rain this week so I think the timing was good.
Sunday was more outdoor work, this time on the rose bush and empty bed up front. Wrestled and trimmed the bush back, resetting it on the trellis, got a lot of the weeds out of the bed and remulched with landscape mulch so now all looks nice and neat. So long as you don't notice the dead leaves still adorning the bushes that are trying to make a comeback. Lost the spring blooms on the large bush, just hope the roses weren't nipped in the bud to early. Finshed the night with working on the merchant maps for Lilies.
So, got a lot done but I can tell I over used a couple of muscles in the hip, to much bending over to reach the ground. Good reminder that I should just plan on doing any work in the herb garden next weekend on hands and knees :).
