It was a good Turkey Day
Nov. 28th, 2008 05:44 pmAltho no turkey, at least on thursday.
Had dinner with Himself's family on wednesday night, where turkey was had, along with some ham. Our pies (from Sam's) were a big hit. Almost all of the family made it and the new location worked really well. There was time for visiting and some games with the kids, and still home by 10 pm.
I didn't sleep in very late (not that that cats usually let me), worred about getting the brisket in with enought time to cook. I actually had more than enough and it was done (well, a bit overdone but Himself and JP were not complaining) a bit early. Fresh asparagus, new potatos and biscuits rounded out the meal, with cheesecake for desert when we felt like we had enough room again. My middle sister dropped by for appetizers and a bit of a visit and it was nice to see here.
Himself was up early for a service appt with his car so he cruised by Target to check out some of the black friday deals. He was strong, he resisted the Lego! I thought I had waited long enough for the crowds to clear at JoAnn's for their sales today. NOT! The line for the *checkout* snaked around the entire store. It was shorter than the cutting line! I had half-hoped to score a steamer that was on sale but they were all gone. Did find some good Christmas deals and a couple of storage boxes in a size I had been looking for. Also had a nice visit with the ladies I was in line next to. One was another Project Runway fan :). Dinner tonight is leftover brisket sandwichs!
In the middle of this four-day break that I am always thankful for (after many years in retail) I remember that I am thankful for my years with Himself and my many family and friends. Thanks Guys!
