Brrr... oh look, snow!
Dec. 16th, 2008 11:34 amThe drive in this morning was.... interesting. Fortunately I got out a bit early and was on the highway with some like-minded cautious folks. We had one guy weaving in and out in a hurry and we all just let him go his merry way. No real problems on the roads and the good old winter drive feature on the Rodeo got me through the one stop I had to make at an uphill light.
I am soooo happy to be in the covered garage now! I'm finding the bridge can be a bit dicey but a handrail helps and my new winter Crocs ROCK! They have been warm and toasty, plus great traction. So long as I'm not wading through a foot of snow I'll be fine :).
Temp drop this weekend was not fun. The department had very uneven heat yesterday. The labs on the north side (with big big windows) were all nice and warm. The offices on the south side (also with big big windows) were cold. In fact the water in the little sink in the conference room was frozen up. Things are better today but still chilly for some. Quite a few folks actually made it in today, altho the office manager had to turn around partway here. I must say it is nice to have a workplace with an inclement weather policy (not to mention said OM is pretty good about it too) and there is some lattitude for weather delays. Eases the stress when fighting the roads.
I also have to thank
galactusprime, and our housemate JP, for being understanding and giving me the garage to park in. Especially these last two days, having a car temp above freezing was very very nice for the joints, which in turn helps the balance. Thanks guys!
We got the rest of Christmas out this weekend and it is almost all up. Still need to arrange a few things. Almost all the holiday shopping is done so no need to rush around in all the weather this week. I think a nice warm pot of sausage and rice is on the menu for dinner tonight.
