Yeah, she's finally writing in her journal :).

Yesterday I had the hoped for final appt w/ the foot doc for the broken bone in my right foot. Verdict: completely healed! I can finally wear a real shoe on that foot for the first time since April! Hallelujuah!!! Some aches are still to be expected as the bone will be growing around the titanium screw they put in but I am now officially "good to go"! Surgery was the July 7th but I think the doc was still a little surprised at the xray yesterday, part of the credit I would give to Joe (from Royal Eggs) and the comfrey oil mix he gave me in August.

Also took the opportunity to have a short talk with the doc about the left hip, as it has not held up well during all the business with the foot. I've had mixed input from ortho docs on the hip for the last year or so (yeah I know, I'm not the best surgical risk, tell me something I don't know) but this doc was very honest, took a closer look at the problem, and thinks it is doable. Soooooo, a new hip may be in my future. Balance would still be a problem but waaaaay less pain. Something definately to consider.

Incidentally, remember how we were discussing historical costume films and we got to talking about Civil War movies and North and South. You may already know this, but guess what's coming to DVD? (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=2285)

Also, here's information on "The Golden Age", the forthcoming sequel to Elizabeth (http://in.news.yahoo.com/040604/139/2dhbb.html) that I mentioned.

Catching up on reading, so this is late, but I'm very glad for you. Since we never get to chat, only wave as we pass one another, I can tell you this. Everyone I know who has had a hip replacement has been delighted.

My mom had one in '99 after having a lot of problems finding a doctor who would do it at her advanced age and condition (grrrr!) I don't know if you remember, but she was so happy and he was such a wonderful doctor that we invited him out to faire, and I knighted him and gave him a garter! *hee* I understand that it still hangs in his office.

Good luck to you, my dear.
