A. R. F., at least in our house means, After Renaissance Festival. I think this anacronym got started one of the years I had a shop when spare time got so tight that there was not any left over to even say the whole phrase and ARF ARF became our standard response to things like "Your mother called....", "The cat needs.....", "there is this light on the dashboard.....". You get the picture :).
So now it is officialy ARF ARF season! Cut for long ramble of the monday unwind from faire... DH and I both try to take the monday after the last weekend of faire off to sleep in, start on the laundry, catchup on a few videos. In general, veg out after weeks of hustle. This year started out to be no different, until the electricity went out around 11 am. Sigh. Called KCPL, they already had a message on the machine so it was not just us, projected time to fix; 3 hours. Sigh again. DH had already decided to run some errands so he left. I finally decided to get some of my usual post faire to-do list done, starting with a haircut. Apparently mondays are *very* slow at the salons as I had no problem getting in early. Hair is cut, and I mean cut! It is a bit shorter than I would have liked but still past my shoulders, altho I think even the stylist was a little surprised at just how much it curled up once the extra weight was off of it. And to be honest, it need a good trim. So far I am happy with all of it except the front, will probably go back and have it trimmed/reshaped in a month or two. Otherwise, I'm probably good until next year :).
After the haircut I went to give the car it's post-faire carwash, complete with vacuming and wax job. No, I didn't do all that, those lovely folks at Turtle Wax did :). And there was a line at the carwash so I didn't get home until shortly before DH and I had agreed to meet for a movie.
Now one of DH's errands was to get an oil change in his faithful late-model Toyota truck. Looooong over-do. He had a coupon so he went to the nearby Jiffy Lube. Appparently his radiator was also loooong overdue for a flush so he had that done as well. Didn't take long, he went on his way to run more errands. At his first stop however a little smoke was coming out from under the hood. Not to worried, something might have been spilled on the block. The steady stream of green fluid from underneath was another problem however. Back to Jiffy Lube for them to take a look. It turns out that there are 2 ways to drain a radiator; through the hoses, or through the engine block. The engine block is a bit trickier but that is the recommended method for older vehicles. Guess which way JL drained the truck :)? Yup, not through the block, which meant there was now a crack in a part of the radiator. To do them credit, they fessed up to the mistake and offered to replace the radiator (used, but still newer than the one that had been in the truck) that afternoon.
So when I get home there is a message from DH on the machine and I head off to pick him up. The timing actually worked out pretty well, we had been planning on going to a movie and this made us just a little early. Yup, finally saw Serenity :). Thanks to gammera_spinning's DVD's I had caught up on most of the episodies and, more importantly I think, both of us had had a chance to see the two-part episode. What a movie! And Damm You JW!!!! Kind of wonder what the series would have been like if this plotline had been played out in that venue but thank goodness he was able to get the movie made. But Damm You JW.........
Truck was ready after the movie so we had an early dinner out and went back home to crash and start laundry. More laundry, and sleep, this weekend, plus it is time to start the fall cleaning and closet purging. Haven't been able to do a really good purge for a couple of years so this could get interesting :).
