A late update, it's been a little hectic lately;

Went to the first meeting for 2007 on wednesday. Got to the hotel before the storm hit, which meant really gorgeous clouds on the drive over and a splendid view from the roof of the incoming storm (we were on the top floor, instead of the first floor ballroom). The first round of storms had come through by the time I ended up leaving and, since I don't take the highway, I didn't have to deal with any of the water on the way home.

Meeting started later than I can remember it ever having done so, with a lot of singing and dancing first. Had time for a nice visit with some folks before the meeting got started. Meeting was actually shorter than I remember it in previous years, even with some folks being tagged at the last minute (and unknown to them) to speak. I never saw anyone else from the office except Entertainment staff, altho supposedly Carrie had been their in the beginning. Gist of it;

Scenario will be the Vulgarian Extravaganza! The Vulgarians are back to declare war because of the insults to their princess two years ago. The Queen will designate four suitors to fight over said Princess, looser going to Vulgaria for the ceremony. And this will all be improved, no script! Apparently that was how the feast of blood worked out last year so they are applying it to the faire. This is also reminiscent of the Saints and Sinners group from several years ago. There will be an English Court but this way the Queen will have more time in the lanes, always a good thing.

Theatrically, I can appreciate the Vulgarian's costumes, and the great comaraderie the group has developed (and yes, they are very loud to sit next to. Enthusiastic is a good word :) ). I have to admit, they are not quite my cup of tea for rennfaire entertainment however. The group has a great energy however so this could be a lot of fun for many of the patrons.

A new court that could have some possibilities is the Italian court; which looks to be an Italian Duke plus 7 members, each representing one of the seven deadly sins. Unfortunately, no credit was given for where this idea came from. And given that there was also discussion on cutting back the 'blue' in the lanes this year, I have to wonder how well this court will really function. The costumer in me sees a feast of gorgeous courtesan attire but, I'm not holding my breath. I know what the budget will NOT be for the folks cast in these roles, and authenticity will probably not be a priority. Sigh.

Fairies are out of the Children's relm and will have their own section of the North Bramble. A lot of the regular acts are returning (altho, at least so far, not LMC, they have been told there is no money left), there will be a chess match but no Stone Church feast. Looked like a lot of the usual street characters were also still on the list too.

And there will be a cast party, during faire! Current plan is to have it at the Ag hall auditorium the Sunday evening before Columbus Day. There was also talk of a Booster Club to help raise money for the party. Nothing was said about what would happen if no money was raised.

That's all I can remember at this point.

Cast party happening during the run of faire is nice.

I just can't find anything to be happy about with the Italian Court plan. *sniff* We had plenty of people asking to 'join us' by the end of last years run though, so I'm sure they won't be hurting for courtiers.
