Ok, so they are cute, but hey, they're foxes :).

Found the above this weekend and will be ordering at least one tshirt. Also indulged in a print and will be following the comic strip.

Cut for long weekend post Last weekend was a trip out of town for an SCA event (probably would have run into [livejournal.com profile] rowangolightly but I forgot about the fabric store. Next time!). Not as leisurely as first planned due to last minute rearranging of travel plans because one of the cats ended up getting some teeth pulled and needed medication on saturday. Himself went down friday with some friends and I followed on saturday am with another friend. Nice to see some SCA-folk that we had not seen for a long time. It was Coronation and I had not been to one for awhile so I had forgotten about all the long courts. D was heralding though so got to see him in spiffy garb. Also ran into another friend who has developed a great class on needlelace punto-in-aria. I am definately getting together with him at Lilies!

Saturday night we crashed with some friends who have a lovely big brick house in an older part of Springfield. They are still in the process of restoring/redecorating it but managed to have space for 9 of us, plus themselves and 3 kids. My internal clock never lets me sleep very late so I was the first one up. Braved a different coffee maker, and wandered out on the back deck to enjoy the weather. Springfield is *still* cleaning up from their devastating ice storm this winter so there are broken trees and piles of branches everywhere. It was still a pleasent view from the deck and as I was settling in I saw a movement in a large tree next door. Yup, a hawk :).

Actually two, and they were building a nest! Watched for quite a while as one of the hawks flew around the yard collecting bits of branches. And the broken ones on the ground would not do, oh no, sometimes she had to select one still growing on a tree, work at it until it broke off, then fly it back to the nest. This also involved a lot of yelling/sqwaking for some reason. The nest was being built on top of what looked like a squirrels nest and every now and then I saw one run up that branch of the tree, only to quickly go back down. Had time to really see these birds up close and I believe they were Cooper's hawks, which are very common to the area. They kept on nest building even as everyone woke up and found their way out onto the deck. And cool as it was to see the hawks T says I need to come back in the summer to see the pair of foxes that have a den under the garage of one of the houses behind them :).

Drive home was nice, weather was good and we made a couple of stops. Sunday and monday was back to work and laundry. I started on one of the costumes for LMC's new show. Himself had rehearsal on monday and then got hit with some nasty bug on tuesday, bad enough he came home from work and is still home today. Had a call and it sounds like he is feeling better so probably back to work tomorrow. Me, I need to be sewing!
