The weekend
Apr. 16th, 2007 08:27 amNot as productive as I would have liked but a lot of fun and a good deed.
Started friday evening with the opening night of The Full Monty at The Barn Players. I'm sure there were a few opening night flubs but I couldn't tell. Good cast with a lot of energy, especially the core performers. The 'full monty' was cleverly handled altho for an overcast and rainy night there was a lot of moonlight :). Ethel Merman, excuse me,
angelbedwell :) is spot on. She has the toughest number, right after intermission, to get the energy back up and she nailed it. Saw lots of familiar faces, nice to have a chance to visit with
retdet and
otterdancing too.
Saturday was more spring cleaning. Had a quick outing to run errands. Indulged in a couple of thrift store stops and at one scored a Tullamore CD for two bucks! Found the dining room table (again :) ), and promptly lost it in eBay prep. Did manage to cook up some chicken breasts for lunch this week.
Sunday was supposed to be spent in the sweatshop but after a lazy morning I got a call from the director I had worked with for the woman's playwright festival in March. He had asked if I would costume the next show he was doing but I told him I couldn't do two back-to-back like that, but would be happy to consult (play is set in the 30's with an Othello costume). Some email insued with pattern ideas etc. He found someone to sew but they wanted him to purchase the fabric so they were sure he got what he wanted for the characters (I'm going to have to remember that one :) ). So there he was around noon sunday at JoAnn's trying to shop for fabric. He has some experience sewing but had questions. I kept asking if he wanted me to swing by (it was the JA closest to our house) but he said no. When I finally hung up I turned to
galactusprime and asked what he wanted to do for lunch. We decided on our favorite chinese buffet, which is just down the road from JA's :). Good thing we went because D. had not really found anything yet and between the 3 of us we managed to find all but one of the fabrics for the Othello costumes in the discount section, which was also on sale. In fact all but two of the things he needed were on sale and since we each had a coupon he was still able to save on them. Woot! Fun time but it got us to lunch late so when we got home I just puttered again. Oh well, nice to have had a laid-back weekend.
