Is a weekend I really look forward to every year. Cut because I got long-winded.... Several years ago about 10-12 of my friends, all women, started getting together for a weekend with no kids or husbands, and plenty of chocolate, wine, etc. It has become an annual event, complete with t-shirts, every year. These are always grey w/ a black widow spider on the front pocket area and a quote on the back. The first year was "The amount of venom a spider uses depends on just how much you annoy her" :), one of my favorites was "Well behaved women rarely make history" :) :).

Officially the weekend runs from noon saturday to noon sunday, since it has been at our place every year this is the time that DH very graciously finds other accomodations (for a couple of years he had a faire gig on this weekend which worked great). Several folks have started showing up on friday nights however, as they know if they wait until saturday things around the house or with the kids could pop-up at the last minute. One friend comes up from Wichita, another comes all the way from Seattle for this every year.

We have developed a loose agenda over the years, starting with garage sale/plant shopping on saturday morning (where all the matching t-shirts usually get a few looks) and including having our own massage therapist come in for saturday afternoon. Believe it or not you can fit 10 women and a massage table on our back deck :). We've had the same therapist back every year, she likes us, which might have had something to do with all the food and chocolate we urged on her the first year, and the good conversation (no male-bashing, just good women talk). We have and informal agenda and have tackled various crafty projects (eye pillows, aromatherapy, stained glass making), had a High Tea one year and are doing our own spa treatments this year. I have a foot spa and at least 2 paraffin baths are coming :).

Deciding on where to go for dinner saturday night was sometimes a problem but one of the husbands likes to cook so for a couple of years we all trooped over to that home for dinner. I think he kind of liked the invasion :). We won't be doing that this year as he is out of town but other plans have already been made.

It is a laid-back time with friends, shopping, a little wine and chocolate. We don't get much sleep but all agree we come away refreshed.

Have I mentioned I am really looking forward to this :) :).
