So I go online to preorder tickets for SW3 and notice a senior discount. And realize I could probably have qualified (AARP has been after me for 2+years!). Whoa! That took me back. Of course the fact that I could even preorder the tickets online, or buy them ahead of time at the box office, is miles ahead of what we went through for the first movie. It was only showing on one screen in town (and did so for over 3 months), you stood inline for the ticket, which they didn't sell until after the preceeding show had started and/or sold out (hoping you and all your friends would get the same showing), then you stood in a packed mob to be ready for the mad dash for the best seats when they finally cleared out theater from the previous show. We probably spent more time on our feet that actually sitting in the theater.

This time I'm old enough not to feel the urge to *have* to see SW3 today, but I can't let the whole weekend go without seeing it :).

I don't remember standing in line so much as the walk to the theater. Me and a buddy made the trek from our neighborhood to 'downtown' Bay City, MI, over the Saginaw river. Must have been 3-4 miles at least. I remember, at least twice, we hiked to the theater Sunday morning to be there when the box office opened at Noon for the first matinee at 12:30 and then we'd sit through two screenings of the movie.

I would like to see it this weekend, but my aversion to packed movie theaters is greater than my desire to see it. OTOH, the theater at the Great Mall is rarely packed, even for blockbusters like this. I saw LotR:RotK opening weekend there in a half empty theater.

The Cinemark over by us is showing it on 6 screens. We figure sunday morning is a good time to catch it with a light crowd :), altho when I talked to the office today they said they were not sold out on any showings yet.

I haven't been to worried about spoilers, I mean we know basicly what is going to happen :).

I'd really like to see this in the theater, anyone have a Clones DVD they can loan me first? (runs before the barrage of action figures still in the box can hit me)

Ah, the memories! Nothing can compare with seeing it at the Glenwood, quite stoned, and having that huge ship fly in right over my head! Yep, I remember the line, the rush for seats, the whole experience! What does it say that until I saw some posts here, I didn't realize that this was THE weekend?! Like nottygypsy, I'll have to do some "homework" catching up before I can go see the new one in the theatre! Maybe we should have a pre-theatre movie party at our house (not necessarily the same day, just show the ones people haven't seen yet)?

Well since I've seen episodes 1 & 2, I hope you don't mind of I don't wait :). We have our tickets for sunday am, I feel some of the old excitement building but I will *not* be going to it in my old obi-wan kenobi costume, which is as old as the first movie, altho now I guess it could just be called a jedi costume.......
