A Senior Moment
May. 19th, 2005 12:48 pmSo I go online to preorder tickets for SW3 and notice a senior discount. And realize I could probably have qualified (AARP has been after me for 2+years!). Whoa! That took me back. Of course the fact that I could even preorder the tickets online, or buy them ahead of time at the box office, is miles ahead of what we went through for the first movie. It was only showing on one screen in town (and did so for over 3 months), you stood inline for the ticket, which they didn't sell until after the preceeding show had started and/or sold out (hoping you and all your friends would get the same showing), then you stood in a packed mob to be ready for the mad dash for the best seats when they finally cleared out theater from the previous show. We probably spent more time on our feet that actually sitting in the theater.
This time I'm old enough not to feel the urge to *have* to see SW3 today, but I can't let the whole weekend go without seeing it :).

Date: 2005-05-19 08:15 pm (UTC)I would like to see it this weekend, but my aversion to packed movie theaters is greater than my desire to see it. OTOH, the theater at the Great Mall is rarely packed, even for blockbusters like this. I saw LotR:RotK opening weekend there in a half empty theater.
