Feels like forever since I'ver posted, lots of catching up to do the last several months but this weekend first (cut 'cause this will probably get long):

Thank you Gov'nr S. for a long weekend! I spent pretty much all of it on costuming related activities :). As I may have mentioned, I couldn't say 'No' to the director I worked with in January so I am in charge of costume designing/wrangling (but hopefully not making all) of the costumes for The Barn's August production of Moliere's The Miser. Director wants 'period style', which is good on two fronts as there is no way we could do completely period on their budget (and there is one!) and this is not a period I am as familiar with as oh, say, 16th C. Fortunately, there were some commerical patterns available for all those lovely family and friends of the performers that are going to get arm-twisted into helping.

But first; fabric! For 15 performers!!! The Hunt Begins!!!

Actually, I managed to find about 90% of what I needed this weekend and stayed pretty much within budget thanks to the holiday sales and clearances. It was nice that the Director gave me carte blanche on colors, but a little frustrating because then I had to actually *decided*!!! So far only two trips each to the 4 larger stores that are closest to me, but also checked out the odd-ball ones too. Lot of walking! Two key characters still to be decided, then a source for tons of buttons. Hmmmm, haven't been to Cy's lately......

Between fabric shopping expeditions had an absolutely lovely day on sunday with [livejournal.com profile] radcliffe and [livejournal.com profile] rougewench figuring out a new bodice pattern for her. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] radcliffe's fantastic production skills, we even managed to finish a test model of the new design for to wear-test. If I do say so myself, we did a great job! And who know rougewench could 'epp' so much when you are lacing her into a bodice......

DH was at White Hart for the first two days, and had to work monday, but we had a relaxing fourth. I had a visit with [livejournal.com profile] kcfest_fop in the morning and then DH helped me with the last fabric expedition (he has a good eye for colors, especially for the stage). Afterwards was a leisurely late lunch at Lobster Pot, I think I'm addicted to their cheesy biscuits..

Between the holiday weekend, our vacation in June, and hosting an out-of-town instructor for an embroidery class, it has been 5 weeks since I worked a straight 5-day week. Next week is going to seem very very long but it will still be nice to get into a regular routine again. Sigh.
