Just a quick entry to let everyone know I am now 2 weeks post-op and doing pretty well. THR went well but since I am considered young for the procedure the replacement parts were not glued in so that bone would grow around them. Then if I live long enough to need another THR, there would be more bone to work with. That means no weight-bearing on the left leg so I am off work until february and using a walker to get around the house. PT home-care helped me work out a way to get to the computer (between my height, and limits on bending the hip, there are not to many places I can sit :) ) so I hope to be back online every couple of days or so.

The bone-on-bone pain I have lived with for 2 years is gone! I still have bone pain from the surgery but that is healing. Have a lot of muscle pain both due to surgery and trying to get them all working again. The good news is I can move my left knee independently in ways I have not been able to for quite some time.

First week was the roughest but I can see steady progress. DH has been a rock through all of this and I could not have managed it without him.

Now that most of the post-surgery haze is easing I hope to get some needlework & reading done, I'm already bored with daytime tv :).

Hope everyone is having a great holiday and best wishes for the New Year!

If you can send Dean over to pick up, I can furnish you with all the fixins for a southern New Year's Dinner--black-eyed peas (Hoppin' John, actually), ham, cornbread, greens, grits, etc. I'll try to give you a call tomorrow and see if that works for you! Or you can call me! Do you have my number?
