I am making good progress post surgery, most of the muscles I can use in the left leg are doing *much* better than they were a couple of weeks ago, but this 'only minimal-weight bearing' is getting harder and harder. The fact that nothing really hurts anymore doesn't help. I am very anxious to be able to walk at least semi-normally again but I can't start working on those muscles until I can be full-weight bearing again. sigh.
Had an appt with the Doc last week and all the staples came out. Incision looks great, if very very long (My Doc calls it the shark bite). I have no vanity about scarring but I am using good ole vitamin E oil to help keep it suple. Sorry, probably more details than some folks really want to know :).
One of the positive things about going through a long haul like this is finding how much support you have. I have two younger sisters and, while we are not all that close we know we will always be there for each other. Both have been just great through all this, coming to stay with me the first couple of days I was home from the hosptial, and still checking in regularly. Feels a little funny to be mothered by my younger siblings though :). Friends and other family have been great too. Hey, we got home delivery of some fantastic soup from MotherPockets, can't beat that!
If I can work out a few logistics I am hoping to be back at work, a least parttime, by the end of January. Keep your fingers crossed!
