So what the heck happened to June? Last I looked it was May, I blinked, and now it's July. Sheesh!

Some vague memories of what I think went on (cut for length)
Ok, so I know that most of the month was taken up with Lilies War :). It was a hectic one this year since I was doing merchant pre-reg/coordinating, I decided to merchant, which meant we were camping in a different spot, and had a whole lot of extra stuff to haul out. And this was the first year without the truck which Himself had become a genius at packing in so not knowing what was going to fit in the new vehicle was also a big unknown.

LW is always an adventure in weather, you can count on heat, rain and wind, usually all 3 at once. This year at least they were spread out. We started out with a LOT of wind on the two days of setup. This was kind of nice in that it kept the heat down but also meant a front came through and dumped a lot of rain that evening. First couple of days were very pleasant though, and even cold enough at night that a wool blanket was appreciated. Forecasted rain came on saturday night instead of the predicted sunday which caught a lot of us by surprise with things left out and trenches undug. Just love the 3 am scrambles to secure the camp from the wet :). We survived pretty well altho i had forgotten to close the propane stove. It still lit, but the flame was coming out where the propane bottle connected to the stove, instead of the burners, so we decided to wait it out awhile before cooking anything :). We went in town for a couple of nights early in the week, then back out for the duration. No more rain and temperatures rose steadily until the last couple of days were HOT. Nights weren't to bad but only because we wised up several years ago and got some of those battery powered fans. They make a big difference for sleeping!

Merchanting was an adventure. One advantage that I readily admit to was that it enabled us to camp in the general area I usually tend to hang out in so that was handy. My walking still has some limits so this is a good central location for me. Business was so-so, essentially it paid for the war, which I guess is not too bad in the long run. I think we made a lot of progress in the merchant policies too, now just need to sit down with A and get it all down in writing.

The Matrix turned out to be a very good car for camping. No, we can't get as much into it as we could the old truck but boy, can it still hold a ton-o-stuff, including all the looooong poles for the pavillion! It is doing very nice on gas mileage too so we used it for any trips back and forth to town.

I stayed on site until the last merchant in my area checked out then headed home. Himself had left earlier and managed to unload, start a load of laundry, then head to Olathe to pick up the LMC prop cart all before I made it home. We were doing laundry the rest of the week but had taken monday off to enjoy a slightly belated anniversary celebration of dinner and a movie. Finally got to see POTC3!

Fortunately Lilies falls between OKRF and WHRF. Himself had one weekend at home before LW, then right after LW had to dive right into WHRF. I used this weekend to finish laundry, etc., because the next weekend was what has become our annual embroidery class with LS. L is a marvelous teacher and really enjoys historic embroidery. She came in a day early, and stayed over for a few days so we could visit, cruise some thrift stores, and enjoy Dim Sum. Yup, finally got to try the Dim Sum at Pine and Bamboo. It's been a few years since I've been able to enjoy Dim Sum but wow, this was great! L used to find Dim Sum regularly before she moved to TN but had been missing it the last couple of years, she thought it was very good too. Need to find an excuse to go again soon :).

Part of what I really enjoy about these classes is just getting chance to spend a day with a bunch of folks who also enjoy historic stitching. Most of them end up back at our place that evening for pizza and we natter away into the night. Good stuff.

Last weekend was more catching up. I think I finally found the dining room table, and my sewing machine. No show to do this fall and I've been turning done renfaire sewing to work on the things that have been hanging on the todo list waaaay to long. More stitching projects keep getting added but I've managed to keep the costume list short. Now to tackle it!

So what the heck happened to June?

I felt that way about May. I've felt that way about most of 2007, actually.
