I just found some fellow SCA embroiderers that are also on LJ and added you all to the list sooooo, guess it is time for an update :). Catching up....

Lilies! what an awesome year. Attendance was a bit low, as expected, but not nearly as low as some folks feared. We had a storm blow in the first sunday and rain on thursday, pretty typical, but the temps inbetween were gorgeous! Afternoons got a little hot but most the the day was pleasant, especially if you had any shade (which I did!), always cool enough to get a good night's sleep. The folks in from AnTir were a bit warm however :). Sheesh, you'd think they had never lived in Kansas before, obviously they have been to long in the great NW and need to get back here to visit more often :). Good to see Lizzie again however and the daquiri party was almost like old times with both her and Hywela there.

Second year of merchanting and it is still going well. With the mobility limitations it is kind of nice to have a *reason* to sit in one place and have folks come to me. Added a couple of new stitching items this year which meant lots of fun talking projects with folks. Oh yeah, and I had a spool of the Gilt Silk twist with me. I kept urging folks to take out in the sun just to see how it looked. Heh heh, the first one's free.......

The Strumpet... continues to try and wind the household around her little paw but is getting only so far. Uncle Murf, aka Mr. Grumpy, continues to ignore her therefore HE is the one she wants to play with. He was enjoying a nap in his favorite corner of the couch when she set her paws up on the edge and took a quick pop at his nose. Lucky for her, he did not deign to teach her a lesson. She has found a way to play with Max and avoid the heavy wrasslin the boys love, and she get's all twitty about; she gets under the entertainment console. She can get under, the boys can't, so she and Max can play bat-the-paws all they want from there.

While we were at Lilies she tried to inform the new roommate that since she was the only human left in the house she was to provide a lap for The Strumpet. Didn't work out that way :). We also decided it is prudent to shut the door to the upstairs when JP retires for the night and now it has become a game for the two of them to see if Strumpet can sneak in and hide before the door gets closed. I must say she is very good natured when caught and brought downstairs, no struggling, lets herself be carried down and placed in an open lap.

New roommate... Boy was it a good thing we cleaned stuff out like we did last winter. We are now packed to the gills with a third person in the house, altho most of it is put away so it doesn't look very crammed or cluttered, just not much room to stash new Stuff. All this happened pretty fast but I think things are going pretty smoothly, probably helped that all 3 of us have known each other for over 25 years. The layout of the house probably helps too; extra room and bath are upstairs so JP has her own space. None of us are big cooks so no problems in the kitchen. She brought a small forest with her (at least 3 gingko trees that she has grown from seeds!) and her plan is to try and find a place in the country by fall so she can get it all in the ground.

Another big move; my mother that is... she is moving down to KC in September, will be living with my youngest sister, who is remodeling her house. Nice excuse to add on a kick-ass new mastersuite, bath, utility room and downstairs quest/entertainment suite :). This, of course, has meant a marathon clean/sort for my mother. She's been catharticly going through stuff since we lost my dad two years ago but now she is in earnest. Unfortunately that means she would like myself and my two siblings to look through everything before she decides to keep or tag sale it. Ummm, trying to get the three of us together at the same time can be a logistical nightmare :). GP and I did go up last saturday to pickup the generator (it was decided this was to handy to let out of the family and since we are the ones who have had the most outages, we got custody. No complaints here!), a cedar chest built by my great-grandfather, and GP cleaned up on a few power tools from my Dad's workbench.

The move is planned for mid-september but she was only able to get the house on the market this week. A neighbor had been interested in buying it but could never seem to get the mortgage approved. She tried to give them the time but really had to get it listed. House sales around here, especially the range this is in, are not as bad as other spots around the country right now so I'm hoping she gets some serious nibbles in a couple of weeks. It is really a great house for a family so keep your fingers crossed.

And prep for renfaire is starting.... GP will once again be involved full-time, I kind of like my part-time gig though. This big chunk of time every fall has been such a part of our lives for the longest time and we still have a big group of friends involved so I doubt if we are going anywhere soon, despite all the changes. Faire sure isn't what it used to be, sigh. I'm doing a little sewing but definitely do not miss all the mad rush of getting GP's costumes done, and trying to teach/encourage/wrangle everyone else's as I had to do the years I was costume coordinator. Having a few issues with the hip but hopefully they will be resolved by the time faire starts and it won't slow me down much.

Ok, the nutshell version but pretty much caught up for now :)
