Friday Update

Managing this a little earlier today! And I thought I would try a new icon for awhile. The old one is my favorite screen saver but this one always gives me a chuckle.
Hip update cut for those bored with it by now.... Progress is slow but it does continue. I can manage to get around the house now without the cane, only a slight roll in the gait. Still using the cane at work, partially for security since those walks are the longest. Doing more stairs, up still more secure than down, added an extra up-flight to the morning walk-in at work. Can feel the muscle that hasn't been used but so far no lasting problems. We lowered 'my chair' at home last night. Being as tall as I am, everything tends to sit kind of low so one of the first things DH did to help me when the hip started to act up was put one of our recliners up on a short platform, only about 4 inches but it made a big difference for me. Post-surgery we had to take it up another few inches but DH took it down to the original platform last night. What a difference a few inches makes! And it was quite a milestone in my recovery too, at least for me :). It's the little things :) :). Appt w/ the Rehab Doc next wednesday and I have a whole list of questions for him!
The class for the medstudents wound up this week, now just grades to process. Our part of the course used to run through early May, kind of nice to get it wrapped up this early in the semester. Next week is our spring break so it will be very quiet around here.
Weekend plans are pretty laid back, have to take the cat to the vet and, *Finally* getting a chance to game on saturday night. We have a semi-regular group that trys to gettogether every now and then but with everyone's schedules it has been months since the last game so I am looking forward to it. Blasting things can be such a stress reliever :)
I also hope to get started on reorganizing my sewing room, also known around here as the sweat-shop. The essentials have been upstairs in the dining room for about 8 months and I would really like to get everything back in order for a couple of upcoming projects. I didn't realize I would miss my nice big cutting table so much but I did. The iron and ironing board are staying upstairs however, it has been nice to have them handy so I have already picked up another used board for the sewing room. Now it just has to stay warm enough.
