Had a great time at a local event on saturday. Mother Nature cooperated and we had sun with temps in the 60s. YEAH!
Cut for long weekend rambling.... Site was a stone lodge at a local lake built as a WPA project in the 30s, included a terrace overlooking the lake. Perfect for SCA events and the local group has used it frequently over the years. Theme of the event was period games, which could be learned in the afternoon while a little fighting and a lot of visiting was going on too. After Baronial court and a full buffet for dinner (donated hunting meats were turned into venison pie, pork pasties and rabbit stew, attendees brought bread and desert). Folks could 'gamble' at the games using tokens. After the gambling there was an auction where the tokens were the only accepted tender. And the swag donated for the auction was AMAZING! Two handmade wooden boxes, a viking rowing seat/chest, fabric, gameboard, boffer kit and shields, amber, jewelry and a perfect camping size trestle table to name just some of the swag. Cool Swag + play money = a hilarious auction.

The whole day was enjoyable since it was a laid back schedule and easy to have time to just sit and visit with folks. The weather was so nice a lot of time was spent on the terrace and the temps there stayed comfortable pretty much through dinner time. After the sun went down it was a little nippy but not uncomfortably so. Auction ran long but everyone picked up and cleared out fast.

I meant to start back to lap swimming at the Y on sunday but I was still so exhausted from saturday that when I got up to feed the cats I feel back to sleep and missed the morning open lap time. Have a Board meeting tonight so will try again tuesday.

Ran some errands sunday and then started Ham and Bean soup for Superbowl dinner. Housemate contributed cornbread so we had a hearty meal, with leftovers for lunch today. Leftover venison pie for dinner tonight, yummm.

Sounds like your event was as much fun as ours--we had the stone soup at ours though--no hunters. BUT the soup was prepared by a Cordon Blue chef--does that count/=?
